UpVote Volunteer Guide: getting started in 6 steps
New to UpVote? This one-page guide walks you through everything you need to start reaching out, from getting your invite to following up with the people you’ve texted.
Your relationships are your strongest contribution to the campaign. UpVote helps you find the registered voters among your own contacts and reach out to them personally. The guide is short enough to read in a few minutes and handy to keep open while you set up the app. You can view it below and download the PDF to print or share with other volunteers.

Get invited to UpVote. Ask an existing volunteer or a campaign staff member to invite you to UpVote using your phone number.
Download UpVote CRM and sign in. Get the UpVote CRM app from the App Store or Google Play (up-vote.net/app). Sign in with the phone number your campaign used to invite you, then enter the verification code.
Connect your contacts. Allow Full Access to your contacts so you can run Contact Match. UpVote compares your contacts to the list of registered voters. Your contacts are not saved automatically. You choose who to save later in the app.
Build your outreach list. Open Contact Match, review the suggested voters and add the people you know to your outreach list. You can also search manually for voters you know who don’t appear in your contacts.
Send personal texts. Go to Outreach › Bulk SMS, select people from your list, personalize your message and send it in batches of 50 or fewer. Keep it friendly and authentic: you’re reaching out as a friend.
Track and follow up. Record replies, update support status and follow up with people who haven’t responded. Help your friends and family make a plan to vote.
Tip for success: only text people who know you, personalize every message, and be yourself. Real conversations work best.
