How To Add Contacts in the UpVote App

Adding contacts is one of the first and most important steps in running a successful campaign on UpVote.

In the UpVote system, a contact can only be added if they are matched to a registered voter that exists in the campaign’s voter file. Contacts you add are individuals you intend to mobilize and who you are comfortable reaching out to personally. UpVote Contacts make up your personal outreach list: people you can engage with reminders, updates, and calls to action throughout the campaign.

In some campaigns, when adding contacts, you can label each one based on how likely they are to support your campaign:

  • Supporter – Strongly supports your candidate or cause.
  • Likely Supporter – Leaning toward support but not fully confirmed.
  • Undecided – Undecided or open to persuasion.
  • Unknown – Their views are unclear or haven’t been discussed.
  • Opposed – Unlikely to support your candidate or actively supporting the other side.

These classifications help you and the campaign team target outreach more effectively and strategically.
